JL Cares
Established in 1996, JL Cares is a charitable group of Jonathan's Landing residents who regularly volunteer for generous acts of giving throughout the local community. Participants also aid in collection and contribution of donations to needy families in Jupiter. The benevolence of the Jonathan’s Landing JL Cares committee members is obvious and always proved with enthusiasm.
JL Cares participates in community-wide charity affairs like the holiday themed Angel Tree Program, which collects gifts for children and seniors. Members actively support the local Bloodmobile as well as Habitat for Humanity of Palm Beach County.
Beyond community sponsored events, JL Cares has a few of its own programs. For both Easter and Thanksgiving, JL Cares participants create and collect baskets so those less fortunate can also have a bit of joy during the holidays. The JL Cares Sandwich Brigade is a group of members that purchase food and prepare lunches for 160 of Jupiter's homeless or needy residents. During the months of November through April, there are five teams of members that volunteer for the lunch-packing on a rotating schedule. Come May, just two groups continue through the summer until the seasonal residents return to Florida to begin the next season. Before the seasonal residents leave for the summer though, JL Cares gives them an opportunity to clean out their cupboards and donate to the food collection locker. The contributions are sent directly to the Jupiter Community Center wherein they are distributed to those in need throughout Jupiter.
JL Cares actively supports over thirty agencies with volunteer work, cash gifts and grants. Among the list of projects and agencies are local Jupiter area schools, wildlife centers, hospitals, learning centers, family services, and churches. A complete list of supported causes can be found in the Jonathan’s Landing Service Directory, published by Jonathan’s Landing P.O.A.
