The opening hole at the Village Course is a dogleg right. Golfers should play their tee shot to the left of the fairway bunkers leaving a short iron or wedge for their approach shot

The second is a slight dogleg left par four. Golfers must position their tee shot between the fairway bunkers that guard either side of the landing area. From there, most golfers will have a mid iron left for their shot into a green guarded by a bunker protecting the left side of the green.

The first of the par fives on the Village Course tempts golfers to cut the corner on this dogleg right hole. After a solid tee shot, golfers must successfully position their next shot between a well guarded lay-up area before approaching the green on their third shot. The green is guarded by a deep bunker in front of the green, and a group of bunkers behind the green.

The par three fourth features a green that is protected on the right side by a pair of greenside bunkers. Most players would be pleased with a par on this difficult one-shotter!

This par four is a straightaway hole that plays due east towards the Atlantic Ocean and often is affected by the wind coming in off of the water. After finding the fairway with a solid tee shot, the player must approach the green with caution as the front bunker catches many shots that fall short of the pin. Par at the fifth is always an accomplishment.

This par three located in the southeastern corner of the golf course features a green that is well guarded by two bunkers and a lateral water hazard. Any tee shot finding the putting surface gives the golfer a good opportunity for a birdie.

The risk-reward par five seventh tempts the longer hitters to go for the green in two. However, all shots towards this green must carry over water for the last sixty yards making for some dramatic seconds as the ball comes back down towards the ground. Whether it results in a “splash” or a “thud,” most golfers are anxious for the opportunity to complete this hole with a par or better.

An open face bunker on the right side of the hole defines this dogleg right par four. If the golfer can find the fairway here, only a bunker right of the green protects the hole on the second shot.

The end of the front nine features a long and straight par four with challenges on both the left and right sides of the hole. The green is the deepest on the course at forty yards and proper club selection for the approach shot is essential for a golfer looking to end their nine with a par.

The fairway of the tenth bends slightly to the left off the tee, away from a pair of fairway bunkers on the right side of the hole. The front third of the tenth green slopes away from the fairway causing many balls to careen towards the back of the green. Absent any bunkers around the green, golfers have a good opportunity to save their par if the ball fails to find the putting surface.

This par three often plays into the prevailing wind and the front bunkers often catch shots that collide with the breeze. The view of this large green is somewhat obscured from the tee box by the raised approach area.

This dogleg left par four requires a well struck tee shot that avoids the trees that line the left side of the hole and a fairway bunker and pond on the right side. For the second shot, the player must avoid the cross bunker that is forty yards short of the center of the green and out of bounds just long of the green.

Standing on the tee of the hardest par four on the course, the player can see a fairway that bends to the left around a deep and penalizing hazard. The green is large and inviting, but all golfers must avoid the oak tree that protects the front left of the green.

This par four has a slight bend to the right calling for a left to right ball flight for most golfers. The fairway bunkers on the right are to be avoided at all costs, as are the green side bunkers located left and right.

This straightaway par four is adjacent to the tennis facility and requires a well-placed tee shot if the golfer intends on firing at the pin for the second shot. The green is elevated above the fairway and is guarded by two deep face bunkers in front.

The view of the putting surface on this hole is obscured by mangrove bushes that run along the banks of the lateral water hazard that must be carried off the tee. Golfers are encouraged to take an extra club in order to ensure that they clear the water on this hole and begin the difficult trio of finishing holes at the JL Village Course.

This par five is one of the most challenging holes of the fifty-four holes that make up the Jonathan’s Landing Golf Club courses. The tee shot is played onto an “island” fairway surrounded by mangroves. The golfer is then forced to play over one of the many waterways that run through the Jonathan’s Landing property. Once the ball has cleared the hazard that bisects the hole, the group of golfers boards the JL Ferryboat in their carts to “cruise” to the other side. There, the golfer plays an approach shot to the green that is guarded by a bunker right of the green. Par on this hole is an accomplishment for all golfers.

The finishing hole at the JL Village Course requires a solid tee shot straightaway. The second shot must clear a lateral water hazard that fronts the green complex. This two-tiered green presents a sufficient challenge for all golfers as they complete their round on the Village Course.
